CLAYPOOL HILL, Va. – CNX Resources, through its CNX Foundation, recently donated a combined total of $35,272 to meet school food needs at three public school divisions and at Mountain Mission School in its Virginia Operations area.
A combined $14,272.32 was donated to public school divisions in Buchanan, Russell and Tazewell counties to clear out lunch debt owed by students in the three counties, removing it as owed by the families who incurred it and allowing the school divisions to clear their ledgers of the debt.
The debt was accumulated prior to all three school divisions offering free lunch to all students.
A total of $21,000 was donated to Mountain Mission School in Buchanan County to go toward future school food supplies needed at the 100-plus year-old school which both houses and provides for the educational needs of its students.

“Helping to address the food needs of our region, as well as children’s health and wellness are some of the primary goals of the CNX Foundation,” Brian Green, CNX Resources vice president of Virginia operations, said. “With these donations, we are pleased to be able to erase the school lunch debt issue for students in our area and to provide the funds to contribute toward food supply needs at Mountain Mission School.”
In addition to recently providing for the school food needs in the three counties, CNX also makes canned food donations to food pantries operating in Buchanan, Russell and Tazewell counties on a rotational quarterly basis.
