GLADE SPRING, Va. — When a Glade Spring soup kitchen recently found itself in need, the community responded greater than anyone ever dreamed.
Debbie Bise, manager of the Southern Manna Soup Kitchen, stands by a ten-burner commercial gas range that was installed last week. The range was donated by Bart Long of Bart Long & Associates Realty and Auction when he learned about the needs of the nonprofit organization in Glade Spring.

Long attended the fundraiser spaghetti dinner, but the new stove had not yet been delivered.

Aretta Myers, a volunteer for the past two years, prepares carry-out food boxes. Many of the people who eat in the dining room at the senior center say they come for the sweet fellowship with other people.
