Especially at Christmastime, we need to remember the importance of giving gifts — more important than receiving them. The Magi brought gifts to the baby Jesus, but the real meaning of Christmas is that God gave his Son as the greatest gift ever. Halleluiah! Christ has come.

What is God calling you to do to help present his message to the world? From teenager to senior adult and everything in between and perhaps even earlier, God can use each of us to get the message across.

Slapping a puck into the net; making a buzzer beating basket; scampering into the end zone; or knocking it out of the park ... all those are important. But finishing the race of life as a winner is the only thing that will really matter ... in the end.

Of course no daddy or papa can make a statement that compares to the Heavenly Father’s pronouncement upon His Son. He is perfect. On the Mount of Transfiguration, the voice from heaven said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him.” (Matthew 17:5)

The last notes heard at the cemetery that day were played on a bugle. Occupants of the graves in that burial ground and graves all over the world are awaiting a trumpet call that will not play taps, but will be accompanied by the shout of God’s Archangel to “Get Up!”

Don’t you think we have enough deceit, misinformation and half-truths out there without creating more on social media and in everyday conversations? Remember, a half-truth is a half-lie, and it’s a sin to tell a lie.

Of course transforming someone by waving a wand is all a fairy tale, but there is someone who can bring a transformation to our lives by his grace and through our faith and prayers. His name is Jesus. When He is in our lives, things are different.
