BRISTOL, Va. — The city’s financial advisors and bond counsel met with the Industrial Development Authority on Friday to discuss funding for a proposed new school.

All of the gas well connection work at the city landfill is complete, and con-tractors are expected to begin increasing gas pressure at the wellheads over the coming days, City Manager Randy Eads told the City Council on Tuesday.

In the end, this landfill crisis has many facets. However, what will be remembered in the coming years is who became a neighbor by recognizing the neighbor’s need. I pray we will find new ways to exercise neighborliness. We are, in the most important ways, one city.

The fact that the city is more concerned with its legal strategy than the quality of life of its citizens and neighbors says more about them than any heartfelt expression of sympathy and understanding ever will.
