Mac McClung is on the move again.

His second 10-day contract with the Chicago Bulls expired on Tuesday and the former Gate City High School star has rejoined the South Bay Lakers of the NBA’s G League.

The parent club of the G League’s Windy City Bulls recalled Mac McClung on Thursday as the whirlwind rookie season continues for the former Gate City High School star. The Eastern Conference-leading Chicago Bulls added him back to their roster on the same day the 6-foot-2 guard turned 23 and he’ll be in uniform tonight when they host the Washington Wizards.

The Chicago Bulls sent Gate City High School graduate Mac McClung to their G League affiliate on Tuesday. McClung joins the Windy City Bulls, who play the Motor City Cruise tonight...In college basketball, Emory & Henry won on the women's side, while King lost in a men game. ETSU will open its Southern Conference men's home schedule tonight with VMI.

The Chicago Bulls used the NBA’s COVID-19-related hardship allowance to officially sign forward Ersan Ilyasova and guard Mac McClung to 10-day contracts Thursday...Gate City graduate Sarah Thompson scored 10 points, including a pair of 3s, but East Tennessee State dropped to 1-12 with a 56-49 non-conference loss to St. Bonaventure at Brooks Gym.

East Tennessee State redshirt junior running back Quay Holmes is one of three finalists for the Walter Payton Award, present to the National Offensive Player of the Year in Division I FCS...Mac McClung scored 25 points for the South Bay Lakers on Monday night...The Liberty women's basketball team defeated Virginia Tech by 19 points.

Former Gate City High School star Mac McClung will play his first game for the South Bay Lakers tonight as the team opens the season at home against the G League Ignite...In other local briefs, Cara Taylor became the first West Ridge runner to participate in the Class AAA state cross country meet. Both King (Memphis) and Emory & Henry (Radford) women's basketball programs played NCAA Division 1 exhibition games, both of which resulted in losses.

Mac McClung will begin the 2021-22 season with the Lakers, just not the team in Los Angeles. Jovan Buha of The Athletic reported on Wednesday that the L.A. Lakers waived McClung and that the former Gate City High School star will join the South Bay Lakers, the NBA team’s affiliate in the G League.
