Emiliano Grillo made a 5-foot birdie putt on the second playoff hole at Colonial to get his first PGA Tour victory in more than 7 1/2 years. Grillo had blown a two-stroke lead with a double-bogey on the 72nd hole. Grillo curled in the winning putt at the 186-yard 16th hole, the same hole where he had taken the solo lead before finishing at 8-under 272.

Steve Stricker is two-for-two in senior majors for 2023 after beating Padraig Harrington in a playoff at the Senior PGA Championship. Harrington forced the playoff with a short birdie putt on the par-5 18th. The 51-year-old Irishman found trouble in a replay of the hole. Stricker finished off a routine par, but Harrington couldn’t make the par putt to extend the playoff. 

Aryna Sabalenka initially thought the boos and derisive whistles coming from the French Open crowd were directed at her after a first-round victory. Instead, the negative reaction was aimed at her opponent, Marta Kostyuk, for not participating in the usual postmatch handshake at the net. Kostyuk, who is from Ukraine, avoided so much as any eye contact with Sabalenka, who is from Belarus, after the match, instead walking directly over to acknowledge the chair umpire.

Charlotte Motor Speedway has announced the Coca-Cola 600 has been postponed until Monday due to wet weather. The Cup Series race will begin at 3 p.m. ET on Monday. NASCAR has moved the Xfinity Series up to an 11 a.m. start. The Xfinity Series race had been scheduled to run Saturday but was also postponed.

With days to spare before a potential first-ever government default, President Joe Biden and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy reached final agreement Sunday on a deal to raise the nation's debt ceiling and worked to ensure enough Republican and Democratic votes to pass the measure in the coming week.

Harold Varner III is finally a winner on American soil. Varner won his first LIV Golf event. He two-putted for birdie on the 18th hole at Trump National for a one-shot win over Branden Grace. Varner never won on the PGA Tour. His two previous wins were the Australian PGA and the Saudi International. He wins $4 million for his LIV Golf-DC victory.

Josef Newgarden finally won his first Indianapolis 500 with an audacious pass of defending race winner Marcus Ericsson in a 2.5-mile sprint to the finish. Newgarden gave team owner Roger Penske his 19th win and first since buying Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The race had been red-flagged for the third time in the closing laps, setting up a one-lap race to the end.

Oklahoma will seek its third straight national softball title and seventh championship overall at the Women’s College World Series. The Sooners set the NCAA Division I record with their 48th consecutive win in an 8-7 victory over Clemson on Saturday to win the Norman Super Regional.

Samuel Blais scored two goals to rally Canada to a 5-2 victory over Germany in the final of the ice hockey world championship. It's a record 28th world title for Canada and its second title in three years. Lawson Crouse, Tylor Toffoli and Scott Laughton also scored for Canada. Latvia down the United States 4-3 in overtime in a bronze medal game. It’s the first top-three finish for Latvia at the tournament.
