You’ve likely seen the headlines about COVID-19 killing radio hosts and activists who opposed vaccines and masks. It’s important that we all resist the impulse to scream, “I told you so!”
Imagine hiking for an hour or two through the woods, up twisting switchbacks of a dusty footpath, straining body and mind against mountain slopes, then as the vegetation clears toward the top and a vista approaches, unexpectedly into view appear a trio of retirees, nicknamed the Mountain Goats, whittling away with hand tools at a big chunk of rock, and whistling as they work.
Women face unequal costs to their fertility by waiting, compared to men. Peak reproductive years are between the teens and late 20s, while fertility starts to decline at the age of 30. (Some mothers are surprised to learn that women who become pregnant over the age of 35 are sometimes referred to by medical personnel as having a “geriatric pregnancy.”)
Feeling down in these uncertain times? I suggest pushing an old washing machine off a cliff. It’s an exhilarating experience watching it tumble, crash and come apart, much like everything else in 2020.
This is the thrilling moment a man parachutes off a cliff with his dog from a height of more than 2,000 feet. Brave border collie Kazuza is no stranger to BASE jumps, having already completed a staggering 40 in his lifetime. Kauai and Niihau islands are the oldest of the eight main islands in the state of Hawaii. They were each formed about 5 million years ago. Erosion and landslides have produced dramatic cliffs on many of the older islands, like the Napali Coast on Kauai's north shore. Molokai has the tallest sea cliffs in the world, according to the Hawaii Tourism Authority. They reach more than 2,000 feet (600 meters) above sea level.
