Your View: Proposed casino a once-in-a-lifetime jobs opportunity

I support the proposed resort and casino because of the jobs and revenue it will bring to the City of Bristol and the entire region. Not just any jobs, but jobs where folks can work in a clean and safe environment. These will be good jobs, earning an average annual income of $46,000, much more than minimum wage.

Looking at the plans, this is going to be much more than a casino. It’s going to be a family-friendly destination resort, for both locals and tourists to enjoy. There’s going to be a hotel and conference center, plus restaurants, live entertainment and lots more.

I see this as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity we can’t afford to waste. I know some local pastors are opposed to this project, but I hope they will understand that they should not prevent individuals from making their own decision whether they want to seek good jobs at this proposed resort and casino. People are struggling and seeking dignity through work. If someone in their congregation desperately needs a good job to support their family, I trust these same pastors will offer their support and understanding.

I’m betting on Bristol!
