"Aerial Power Line Spraying on Rights-of-Way, Buchanan County, VA." Buchanan Minerals, LLC will maintain portions of its power line rights-of-way in Buchanan County, VA with aerial spraying using approved herbicides. This work will begin on or after May 22, 2023. Questions about the program or about sensitive areas near power lines, such as springs, wells, streams, lakes, ponds, orchards, crop areas, gardens, pastures, meadows, year-round dwellings, and public recreation areas may be directed to our aerial contractor by calling Barry Clinevell at 540-314-4906. The herbicide to be used is "Viewpoint" which has been tested extensively and approved by the Environmental Protection Agency and the State Department of Agriculture. Rights-of-way that will be sprayed involve the following locations: The first section of right-of-way spraying will follow Buchanan Minerals' 69 KV power line starting near coordinates 37°10'03.60" N, 82°00'58.35" W and ending near coordinates 37°10'30.56" N, 81°59'41.95" W. The line runs from Buchanan's Skeggs Branch substation and ends near the mine's Permac water plant on Page Drive. The length of the line is approximately 1.4 miles. The next section of right-of-way spraying will follow Buchanan Minerals' 12.47 KV power line starting near coordinates 37°09'48.92" N, 82°00'53.11" W at the old VP8 mine site and ending near coordinates 37°09'38.32" N, 81°59'51.91" W on North Branch. The power line length is approximately 1 mile. A 0.35-mile length belt line to be sprayed. These are located at Buchanan's Page mine site The next section of right-of-way spraying will follow Buchanan Minerals' 69 KV power line starting near coordinates 37°10'29.38" N, 81°55'54.01" W and ending near coordinates 37°08'48.93" N, 81°55'30.34" W on Lighting Road approximately .42 miles off Rt. 618. The line crosses Seven Mile Branch Rd. approximately .40 miles Northeast of Rt. 618. The length of the line is approximately 2.3 miles. The last section of right-of-way spraying will follow Buchanan Minerals' 69 KV power line starting near coordinates 37°11'01.51" N, 81°54'33.58" W where it taps off the previous power line and ending near coordinates 37°10'28.61" N, 81°52'44.88" W. This power line cross Rt. 629 twice on Osborne Mountain. The length of the line is approximately 2.2 miles.
